The Search For the Ultimate Dad Clothing Brand
Us Dads have it hard enough with all the lawn mowing, BBQing, and staring at the rain and saying “the plants really need it” (and all the parenting stuff), without having to work out which clothes to wear.
Suitable Dad clothing has to:
- Have ample pockets
- Comfy
- That’s pretty much it
Bonus points for:
- Made sustainably
- Hard working as a Dad
- Looks good
I’ve been searching for one brand, one style that I can rock through my career as a Dad. I have to be ready for action but also prepared to ‘rest my eyes’ at a moment’s notice. I think I need your help.

Which is the best go-to brand for Dads who want to feel awesome and know that if they walk into a store (or request items on a partner’s shopping list), they will love what they get?
The Choices:
Comfy for sports and ready for any activity – even playing with dolls on the carpet. RYU makes super soft, super technical sports apparel, backpacks, hip bags, shorts, t-shirts, sweaters, and jackets for any occasion.
Just a few of my faves from RYU:
Quick Pack 18L – water resistantIt has a shelf for your laptop as well as its line with polygiene which prevents bacteria from growing.
Arc Rain Jacket – fully waterproof and keeps heat in!
Fuse Chino – hike in these then swing by the office
Tera Crew – It’s on the sleeker side and is already preshrunk so you don’t have to worry
RYU Wool Beanie – Because we all need one in Canada

Office attire has gone fashionable. These pretty plain pants have turned themselves into something of a wardrobe staple that can be paired with pretty much anything. You know where you are with Dickies.

The great ‘Dad Bod’ can come in many different shapes and sizes, all perfect (as are all bodies), and the Dad Bod Apparel brand has taken this to lead with encouragement and support for fathers.
Hard-working Dads need to know their gear isn’t going to fall apart. Known for being rugged workwear, Carhartt will get you through the most challenging seasons and endless playdates.

NEW BALANCE
For the shoes, they’ve nailed it. Supportive, comfortable, not over-priced, and synonymous with lawn-mowing and stroller-pushing. I have a pair and love them.
