Finally! Passenger Ferries from Downtown Vancouver to Nanaimo – launching on Aug 14th

Foot-passenger travel is about to get a ‘hull’ lot better. The new Downtown Vancouver to Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, fast-ferry service is here to connect you to a boatload of possibilities in just 70 minutes. That’s compared to the 90-120 minute ferry ride, which doesn’t include the time spent lining up, walking around the terminal, buying a stuffy for your kid even though they’ve already got the same one, and considering buying a book on BC’s ghosts for something to read.

The passenger ferry (no cars) will leave from the Vancouver Flight Centre at Canada Place (by the planes) and arrive at Nanaimo Port Authority on Vancouver Island.

Want to bring your bike?

Bikes must be reserved online before you sail (for a fee) as there are limited spots available on each sailing. Bicycles will be stored in a designated area on the outside of the vessel. E-bikes or electric scooters will not be able to sail with them due to safety regulations onboard. Lithium batteries (which power certain wheelchairs, mobility scooters, e-Bikes, etc.) are prohibited on the ferry per the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992 (TDG Act) and its regulations.
